Great Meals....Part Two!

Last night, several family members were at Mia Dona on East 58th Street to toast new graduate (and Altria spokesmen), Brendan.

The feast included appetizers of seared diver scallops with currants and capers, crab polpetti with aoili and zucchini, and the popular baked figs with gorgonzola and proscuitto. The hit of the evening was an entree of Gnudi. Light, airy, ricotta dumplings with truffle butter, mushrooms, and crispy speck. Other entrees were grilled lamb chops, swordfish, chicken paillard, ravioli and branzino. All was washed down with several bottles of 2006 Erath Pinot Gris and a 2005 Barbera D'Alba.

Other Highlights:
-Ginny deciding what she was ordering before arriving at the restaurant so she could talk and not get flustered when the waiter asked for her order
-Katherine not slurring her words despite 2 whole glasses of wine

Lowlights:
-Brendan and Elaine "making out" during the car ride home
-Arriving for a nightcap at Paddy Maguires only to recognize noone. Several younger family members begin to feel old.
-Octopus still braising and 86'ed for our table

Congrats to Brendan on all of his hard work. www.miadona.com

Good work, Ed, keeping up the tradition of "great meals."

Congratulations Brendan, we wish we could have been there with you.

Ginny's "pre-order" is a potentially disturbing trend as I was given short notice to review the restaurant website and make some recommendations for her.

Johnny - The white asparagus salad and grilled swordfish were both winners!
