On Wednesday I had the pleasure of dinner at Tour d'Argent in Paris, where Johnny and Willie had a legendary meal in 1968. The food and service were sublime. What might have been annoying conversations around me sounded interesting because they were in French. The view of the Seine and Notre Dame was stunning. I had a memorable evening.
The wine list was bigger than the old Manhattan phone book. The sommelier helped me pick this gem.
Duck breast studded with black truffle, in a black truffle sauce. Braised cabbage leaf sprinkled with truffle. It was truffle season, and they did not hold back.

They've counted every duck they've served since 1890 or so. This is the card commemorating mine.
Mille-feuille with an Granny Smith apple chip.
