One of the greatest tenor voices, if not the greatest. He was known to get a little sloppy at times, like when he was reported to have fallen under the piano at a recital. (He was NOT a Breezy Point resident.)
Ah the "Swedish Caruso" turns 100. It seems like just yesterday he was singing the part of Mario in Tosca.My favorite Bjorling story is when he suffered a heart attack right before a performance of La Boheme in London, yet he still performed that night.
